Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is a Lead Docent?
A. Each class has one volunteer Lead Docent acting as the main contact between the Cornerstone Art Chair, the class teacher, the class Art Docents, and class Helping Hands. This role is most involved in coordinating the schedules of art lessons and volunteers.
Q. What is an Art Docent?
A. Each art lesson needs one volunteer Art Docent per class to attend the art training and teach the step-by-step lesson to the class. There are typically 2-3 Art Docents per class to cover the 9 art lessons each school year. The Art Docents do NOT need to be artistic, just enthusiastic!
Q. What is a Helping Hand?
A. Helping Hand volunteers support the Art Docent during the art lesson in class. They help with set up, clean up, and any students that need more guidance.
Q. What is the difference between Art at Your Fingertips (AAYF) and ArtTrek?
A. AAYF is a partnership with the Palos Verdes Art Center (PVAC) with 5 art lessons held at PVAC. ArtTrek lessons are led by a local artist in the Cornerstone MPR for 4 art lessons. The class Art Docent for each lesson attends this training on a designated Wednesday morning.
